What are water heater upgrades?
Not all plumbers install a water heater to local city code requirements. Most low cost installers do not code upgrade the water heater.
All plumbing contractors that install a water heater need to apply by local city plumbing codes to insure proper function and safety.
Water Heater Code Upgrades
- T&P drain line from water heater T&P valve to outside of building 6'' above ground level. Drain line should have 1/4'' per foot downward slop age.
- Water heater earthquake strapping to top and bottom of water heater.
- Proper venting to water heater. All venting connection should have 3 metal screws to insure pipe from coming apart. Venting should have 1/4'' slop age upward. Proper size the water heater vent size with BTU output.
- Gas shut off valve should be check for proper function and gas flex line should also be check for integrity.
- Cold water inlet shut off valve should be check for proper function.
- Water pressure should be check for proper PSI setting. If you are in a area with high street water pressure a Thermal Expansion Tank in recommended to insure proper function to your water heater and plumbing system.

Water heater tank leaking?
Water could be leaking from the tank or water connections.
What to do?
Immediately turn off cold water shut off valve located right hand corner of water heater. Turn of gas shut off valve located bottom left hand corner of water heater. Relieve water pressure to water heater tank by turning on temperature and pressure Relief valve located on water heater. Call 661-297-1241 for rapid response service.
Tank-Less vs Tank Water Heater?

Tank-Less water heaters are new products to some customers. A Tank-Less water heater can provide a multi family with end-less hot water when properly installed. Installation upgrades are needed such as proper gas size and converting vent pipe to category 3 stainless steel venting.
